HALLOWEEN SHOOTOUT 2011........
November 3, 2011
The Halloween Shootout was won by my good friends, Scott Texeira, Scott Alexander and Rodney Texeira on the " Ratch-It". They are North Shore fishermen like myself. I want to congratulate them on their win.
Halloween Shootout started at 7:00a.m. Monday. Half of the boats headed toward Lanai and the other half headed to Molokai.
My mind was already set to go to the North Shore. My reason was, two days before the tournament, B.J. and I hooked up to a big Marlin, but it threw the hook. Also there was a lot of bait and bird piles.
So we headed to the KC1 buoy and to the outside of the Q buoy. We got a call from the "Ratch-It" (which was behind Molokai) letting us know that they had a Marlin come up to their lure and played with it, but didn't stick. They also had two more strikes after that. We were three hours away, so we decided to stay in our area.
Working bird pile to bird pile, we ended up catching three mahi and one ono.
This was a real good tournament and my crew B.J. Cabanting, Tyler Prepose, Clayton Franco and myself had fun.
When I get the full results of the Tournament, I will post them.

My son-in-law, B.J. and I went out yesterday to scout the North shore. We caught a 28 lb. Mahi. Not sure what way we're going for the Shootout tomorrow. Good Luck to the fishermen in the tournament. Keep a tight line!

MAHIMAHI IS OUT THERE.....
October 27, 2011
Went out this past Saturday, trying to find where the bait is hanging around. We started on the 200 fathom and worked our way out to the 500 fathom. We found a few bird piles with aku. We caught a few Mahi too. We headed out to the 1000 fathom and worked that area for a while. With nothing exciting there, we went back to the 500 and caught some more Mahi.
